Take the money and buy the coins directly instead of mining. 1000$? You`ll have >4 btc so you will have more than 570 coins now.
With one r9 280x you mine 0,1 drk daily not talking about electricity costs.

Take the money and buy 570 coins like splawik21 said. Put 500 in a masternode shares and you will get paid like 8-9 DRK a month while still keeping 500 DRK which you can sell whenever you like, within minutes. Rig will loose its value with time and will be more difficult to sell. DRK price seems not to be dropping below $1.30, which you probably know if you want to mine it.

Unless you really want the rig to mine some other coins.

i`ll tell you something, I spent more than 2k euro for a rig with 4x 280x If I bough the coins in that time they were at 0,00125 and btc was ~500 euro I could have ~4000 drkcoins so to mine them with this machine was impossible. I mined with these cards about 650 coins.
Do you math before...

Thats almost exactly what I did as well but in pounds sterling. And I reckon the money spent would have got a few masternodes

So after reading tossing numbers around I followed the advice of folks and have been purchasing drk. At this point for me that was a much better way to go. Thanks for the inputs and perhaps this will help some others as well.

Zoom out of the bitcoinwisdom chart-changing your minute candle settings, try to see the trend and buy the dips, such that they are!!

I understand the math here it is less expensive to buy than to mine. I mine less myself and spend what I would have on electricity on coins now, but we need miners to secure the block chain from bad actors such as, XxDotRpSDzgyAkx3jHkLZD8YYZRwbcjmmA image if the operator of this pool takes control of miningpoolhub or wafflepool then what? Can the masternodes take over as a sort of two factor to help a 51% attack? Thoughts?

I'm certainly thinking about selling my rigs to buy a few thousand coins now before the price rockets. I believe once instantX and 2FA come out it will be the perfect eCash and there will be no stopping it. Now is the time to buy!
