hi, ppl. I’am doing a course in the ux&ui design, i’am just starting, but I’am already very curious about user’s real experience. Talking about designing apps I see minimalism everywhere, from the icon to the interface. But this does not work for the better in every occasion. Personally I don’t like updated minimalistic Skype. What app design do you consider the best ? MOSTLY interested in messengers / communication apps.

I don't like the point that many messengers look almost the same. What about new ones? I know there are lots of them. People are looking for privacy and many apps promise to be like that. Have you tried any of them?

Telegram of course. There is a lot of everything at the same time and nothing superfluous. Perfect.

In my point of view it's quite minimalistic.. There's nothing interesting there, but I can agree that it's easy to use.

I mean messengers, I've checked and find more than 30 different messengers. It will take a lot to check all of them that's why I'm interested maybe you've tried something special and liked it more than something else that most of people use.

I like stable running of the app ;) As a rule, lush design > optimization.

My fav ui/ux is Johny vino, a designer from India... Not sure he did smth for messenger but check his works. I adore Design Events Near You ----app for discovering upcoming local design events and all kinds of outdoor activities in your city and nearby places get interesting event recommendation, bookmark events, etc.
It has great mobile UI and excellent UX. Hope it'll be useful for u

Agree, stable running is the most important thing for any app :)
But anyway when you install some soft I'm sure that some of them are inconvenient to use just because of bad design.
That's why I'm interested in it.

I would not say that Skype design is very minimal, but I don’t like it either. If you take into account the apps, then just better minimalism can be traced in instant messengers or in taxi services. For me, Telegram is a great example. It's simple and clear to the user. When I was at university, I used computer science homework help for my course project to create a similar messenger based on the API Telegram, so I can say that it a very good app.

I can agree, it's easy-to-use and has very convenient interface. I like the point that it has dark and light themes so as we can choose the one we like more.

So, u like Skype for dark/light theme, interface and...is it all? My grandma use Skype for the conversations with her daughter, and I'm acting as a HACKERMASTER for her, cuz this god'damn Skype have everyday updates and crashes

I was speaking about Telegram, not Skype. I don't really like Skype. They add more and more functions that are don't really needed and I totally agree with its instability.

I use Telegram, but you know I don't think that a secure messenger exists at the market.

I wouldn't be so skeptic. If you'll check the market you'll find a number of messengers that provide you more security than any other popular do.

Telegram. Very simple and intuitive interface. Especially I like feature with switching between video and audio message by tapping on it icon. I'm not using it at all, but this feature is exist and it dont looms before by eyes all the time. Economy of space, you know.

And I don't like that button, haha :) I mean it's very useful to send audio messages, but it drives me crazy when it switches to this strange small window video..
They'd better delete it or make it look normal.

WhatsApp is the one which I prefer and use on daily basis. Its design is very simple and easy to use and its most popular messenger app now days.

The point why I don't like WhatsApp is that it takes a lot of phone space and I have questions to its privacy settings..
But the design is not bad, I agree.

Cool! This is a rather difficult topic, and requires skill and creativity from a person. I am very pleased that I can transfer design work to https://gapsystudio.com/ so that my head does not hurt.

    I totally agree on minimalism!
But I have a few thoughts I want to share. I know that according to stats the best color for social media and messengers is blue. However, I enjoy if not love all the apps in orange or red color, of course, it shouldn't be too bright. Am I the only one who opens Facebook and signs because it is blue??)))

Well, I would say the same except it doesn't have trace activity of users option which is very convenient in other messengers.

The problem with Telegram, for instance, is that the government prohibited its use, in my country, and for a long time I had to use VPN which didn't always work properly. If it wasn't for my work, I would have stopped using Telegram right after troubles came. So that's the only reason I am using Telegram now. I don't know if it was prohibited in any other countries but believe me we had a lot of troubles in mine

Do you mean that you can't notify a person that you've written to him?
