Map with Merchants accepting DASH

crowning

Well-known member
qwizzie had the idea, yours truly the skillz™, et voilà, we have now a world-wide map with the locations of merchants/business which accept Dash for payments:
http://178.254.18.153/~pub/Dash/Merchants_Map.html

Looks like this:

FAQ:
  1. Where are those locations from? Geo-locations/postal addresses are either directly from the linked site, my own investigations or, if nothing else was available, from the IP of the hosting server of the site (that's why so many sites are located in the US).
  2. The location of my shop is not correct! If you want it corrected convince me that it is indeed YOUR business and send me a PM with the correct coordinates in the form <latitude>::<longitude>. Postal address is also fine.
  3. The location of my business is TOO accurate and complaining customers camp in front of my shop's door! Welcome to 2016. If I can find out, others can do as well. Better be a nice merchant!
  4. Why is Claws-Mail in the middle of the Atlantic ocean? They hide there from the NSA!
  5. Where is the current list of merchants? https://dashtalk.org/threads/merchant-directory-listing-updated-jan-2016.3445/
  6. Why do you use OpenStreetMap and not Google maps? Google is one of the richest companies on this planet, and OpenStreetMap is a community project. I rather support community projects.
tungfa , since your are the maintainer of this list: would you please send me a PM whenever a new merchant is added to the list?

I will as this to the Merchant Listing (as a self reminder )

Hong Kong has a link to Genesis-Mining ?
they are based in germany !

the only guy i know in HK is that photographer dude !
www.philippengelhorn.com

+ Node40
should be listed under NY State / USA

Thanks for the correction.
Actually, according to their homepage Genesis-Mining is located here, I've corrected this.

Node40 is not in your list!

tx man
that map/page is GREAT !
i did some social media postings and it seems to encourage people to be listed !
lets see if they really do/post

That's so cool. I want to sell something, but I don't have anything to sell, that's worth anything..... except maybe my husband.... do you think anyone'd by him? Can I base a store on him? LOL Anyway, it's very cool!

Great, crowning !

That's an amazing tool this merchants map. I am sure more merchants and services will want to be in that map and, of course, more customers will want to use DASH!

I'd like to request a small fix, in the name of one of the merchants in Brazil:

It's name is "PMG Topografia", but in the map it shows as "Angra dos Reis, RJ" (that's actually the name of the city).

I have been helping their DASH adoption. Now, for example, they have got their own DASH invoice (I have left a model at https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet...hnV1Yc2a7FatFKDS9Bro92S9Y/pubhtml/sheet?gid=0)

As to the exact locations of the merchants in the city, I'll provide you with the GPS coordinates as soon as I get them

edit: I have obtained the following coordinates from Google Earth (I hope I did it right):
Lat: 23° 0' 14.48" S
Lon: 44° 17' 59.32" W
Lat: 23° 0' 31.31" S
Lon: 44° 19' 3.06" W

Thank you!

Thanks for the information, really appreciated.

I've fixed PMG Topografia, the other one should be okay (I've taken the the description "Ivan Liborio International Law Office" from their English site, so I think that's fine). Coordinates adjusted for both.

nice!
you may find http://mapme.com/ useful

Thanks, but not really:
  1. I don't want to rely on a company which may or may not be available in 5 years, or may want to get paid some day.
  2. Mapme is nothing more than an additional layer above Google maps (they use Google's Map-API), so we would actually be dependent on 2 companies. Not good.

But anyway, thanks for the information. Better to know too much options than none at all :)
