Core Developer Contest and Sponsor Program

Every minable coin has an inflation = tax for current holders.

With Bitcoin it is a kind of dullness = all these "taxes" are sending to miners (so they don't support innovations).

With DASH it is much more effective now - because MasterNode Operators are interested in innovations so SOME of them will donate voluntary.
But it is still not the most effective system IMHO.

And I hope if more effective system exist - DASH will be the first player who discover and apply it.
And if there is no more effective system then now, it's also OK - so no one can compete with DASH. :)
I'm saying from now and going forward, imposing a "mandatory tax" or "mandatory donation" is going to get more flak than any benefits. Optional donations, fine, but nothing more.

I think one of the first steps to mass adoption would be to get e-coin.io to support Darkcoin. I recently received their debit card and it is simply excellent. Wish I could withdraw DRK/DASH as easily.

Someone should also create a Darkcoin e-wallet framework capable of InstantX and Darksend.

Just my 2 cents.

How about setting up a kickstarter campain. It would do wonders for PR and might just fund the development team.

Give everybody a chance to donate to this project not only masternode owners. There are allot of people out there that value their privacy.

ProtonMail collected 275.000$ in two weeks on kickstarter and that is a privacy centric E-mail service. Personaly I think Dash is way better than any private email service.

:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

Great thinking!

I like the idea, but I'm not sure what we could offer in exchange for the donation... can you elaborate on that? I guess that ProtonMail offered an account, but we don't have much to offer that is really valuable besides coins. On the other hand, I have donated in the past without receiving anything in exchange to causes I believed in like PGP, Tor or EFF, so maybe it could work in platforms that are not Kickstarter.

kickstarter and such is a great idea,
but I think we are way too advanced for something like that by now . we could have done that a year ago , but see how far we came without it. to do that now would project the wrong image of DRK i think

It does not have to be anything that is offered in return like darkmail did they just offered access to the official binaries some days before the general public.

It is not a requirement of kickstarter to give something of significant value in return, as far as I know.

Most projects that are on kickstarter have been in development for years before they go on it. Dont see how this could project a wrong image of DASH. Whats wrong with getting funds from people that want to donate to a project like this ?

Nothing wrong, this is a good idea that we should explore separately from the Coredev Contest and Sponsor Program. Would you like to take the lead Icebucket and create a thread for Kickstarter and just let us know what you need from us to make it happen?

Coredev Contest and Sponsor Program follow up

We’ve had great interest in the sponsorship program, but many of the potential sponsors were asking for an easier way to contribute a small percentage (5%) of their masternode earnings. In order to make donations easy for everyone, the first time you start your masternode, the software will ask if you’re interested in donating. This should make it very easy for anyone to support the development of Dash, without messing with complicated configurations.

Most masternode operators that reached out to us were interested in donating about 5%, which is the number we used for this feature. We’ll make it configurable later on, but for now that is the default.

Please consider donating, it is super easy to do now, with your help we will be able to advance development faster.

Here are the things we will be working on with the new developers:

Core Development - C++

We’re seeking highly talented software developers capable of working on the core client, which is written in C++. Participants should have a solid understanding of Bitcoin based technologies.

Dash is an exciting framework to work on with technology such as the Masternodes, Darksend, IX, among other features, so we expect lots of contestants.

Example projects include:
  • Improving Masternode protocol communication
  • Speeding up the unique features of our client
  • Implementing a challenging solution to storing Masternodes in the blockchain
  • Writing technology for serializing the Masternode Payments history (to improve the reference nodes accuracy)
  • Debugging Darksend and getting it to work 100% of the time
  • Keeping the core client up-to-date with upstream changes happening in Bitcoin

Integration Specialist

We’re looking for one person to work full time on some integrations we have in the pipeline. This person should be skilled at web-related technologies such as NodeJS, Python, Javascript and PHP. We have many integrations in the pipeline, so this is expected to be a part-to-full time role within the core team.

iPhone / Mobile Wallet Specialist

Are you a skill Objective C programmer? We’re looking for someone to create a mobile wallet for iPhone, please see https://github.com/voisine/breadwallet for an example of what we would like.

Thanks!

Hi Evan... I'll kick this off with a 100 DASH donation to start with. I'll send this to the core wallet address.

could you implement something like this:

darkcoin.conf

(...)
Payment * 0.2 for Xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx (for someone who participated 200 DRK in Masternode / 20%)
Payment * 0.1 for Xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx (for someone who participated 100 DRK in Masternode / 10%)
Payment * 0.214 for Xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx (for someone who participated 214 DRK in Masternode )
Payment * 0.001 for Xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx (for someone who participated 1 DRK in Masternode )
Payment * 0.005 for Xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx (for someone who you want to donate 5% you earnings )
Payment * 0.015 for Xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx (for someone who you want to donate 15% you earnings )

// default for adres0 = 1.0 - 0.535

I have no problem donating a % of masternode earnings to the developers, this is a great initiative and it would be an honor to be a part of it.

or even
Payment * 0.00001 for Xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx (for favorite music artist )

I'll start donating a couple of MN earnings to this project to start with. I'll need help with this...Spalwik21 help set up a few of my nodes....please let me know how I can point them your way. Sorry guys...this the second request for this wallet and I can't find the link.

Edit: Can someone list the different donation wallet addresses and what they are used for. I see 2 donation wallets on the darkcoinfoundation but they don't specify what they are for. Is the foundation wallet used for core development donations for example? Thanks

Ok...so what I've done, since I'm in hurry and in transit. I've start with a small donation of 50DRK to the multiseg wallet listed on the darkcoinfoundation...can someone please confirm that they have received this? Tnx
