DASH/CASH adapter/emulator

This proposal suggests development, testing, aprobation and further commercialisation of simple-screw-assebmly DASH-CASH emulation module for vending machines with popular cashboxes\billacceptors.

Concept propose upgrading existing vending machines without any software modifications.

According to concept, DASH transaction module are installable into cashbox/billacceptor chain as a gateway (repeater), therefore any specific technical skills not required.

We expect that adaptor's simple using and it's low cost will be great advantage to attract vending enterpreneurs to DASH ecosystem and make DASH cryptocurrency more popular among vending consumers.

Proposal budget will be used for hardware development, concept promotion on target-thematic boards, advertising campaigns. Software will be constructed by our team independently.

Besides budgeting we want to engage DASH-community enthusiasts from all over the world to help to promote and implement this solution at the local markets.

Potential market volume allows to make optimistic forecast about commercial success of concept.

WIKI:
"According to market research by Frost & Sullivan, global shipments of smart vending machines are forecasted to reach around 2 million units by 2018,[57] and further to 3.6 million units by 2020 with penetration rate of 20.3 percent."

There are around 20M different vending machines worldwide. Europe has 1 vending machine per 120 people, USA has 1 vending machine per 20
people.

First stage of project (needs 10.000 USD). MVP development, promo creation, information collection, board discussions, international team
involvement etc.

Second stage of project (needs 30.000-50.000 USD): samples distributions, realconditions aprobations, reviews and feedbacks collection, improvement reworks, earlybirds presale, full-scale production cycle development, full-scale marketing division creation.

Third stage of project (needs 10.000-100.000 USD) commercial product launch, possible cooperation with vending vendors.

Looking forward to discuss different terms of cooperation.

Just an FYI, this probably belongs in the "Pre-Proposal" section: https://www.dash.org/forum/topic/pre-budget-proposal-discussions.93/

Thanks for the pre-proposal. Could you provide some examples of the kinds of vending machines that you'd like to outfit with Dash processing capabilities and talk a little bit more about how that works? It's a very interesting idea, but I'd like to understand more about how this would be implemented. Also, could you go more in depth in to how you arrived at your development budget figures and associated costs?

Thanks for fixing section

There are not so important what kind of bill validator will be emulated (in the ideal case it could be download library with drivers for any type). At pre-sale stage we will get a list of most popular devices.
I think in will be NV-9, NV-10, NV-200 bill validators at start.
For example, @Shop24 one of most popular top-class vending kiosks.
To answer "how it works" i will draw some simple shematic pic for easy concept understantig.

There are not so many vending businessmen\vending dealers in each country. It is not a problem to contact with them, right?
Or do you want to understand assembling\upgrading process in details?

Funding figures is very approximate, especially for 2nd and 3rd stages, but ok, i will try to make some explanations later.

@HodKonem -- Thank you for taking the time to respond to my questions. I now have a better understanding about the nature of the product you're proposing. I don't know how closely you've been following the development of Dash, but for example we're hoping to have a decentralized API up and running later this year as part of the "Evolution" improvements to the Dash Platform. How would that development impact the libraries and systems you'd potentially be building with these systems? Would you be able to modify your system to incorporate these new features via remote updates or would it require entirely new hardware to be built to facilitate changes?

Tangentially related to that, how would your system handle processing Dash, since many large business owners might be hesitant to accept the risk in holding cryptocurrency directly. Would you work with a particular payment processor to convert to fiat currency at the point of sale or some other solution?

Could you tell us about you and your team's experience? Have you already been working in this industry or developing similar technologies and solutions?

Would your project achieve self-sufficiency (and if so how, such as the sale of the devices or ongoing maintenance and support services) or would you need continued funding? How long do you think it would take to achieve? Since we're looking at a potentially sizeable funding allocation--assuming the project ends up being toward the larger end of your cost projections--have you given any thought to if/how your organization might participate with Dash Ventures?

It seems like a great project, the Shop 24 terminals you mentioned are very widespread, even here in the USA, so there's definitely a lot of potential over all.

Hi @Arthyron.

First of all i would like to thank you for questions, as those questions are helping to us to get more clarity on our project and gives alternative thoughts.

Currently our team is not big, and consist only 5 volunteers, we are specialists from different areas. We are really keen on bringing a new ways of doing business and industry 4.0 future.
I’m @PerunX and my current position is a head of IT department in biggest telco company in UA. On that project i’ll have a role of project manager.
@Hod Konem is an investment consultant, entrepreneur and real idea generator. He has a few projects implemented in UA, for example one of the largest miner farms was implemented under his ownership.
@assembly is currently working in IBM as software engineer for almost 6 years now and he will be responsible for design and implementation of the software (including monitoring and support for API changes through remote updates)
Konstantin is fascinating on hw design. A lot of HW projects (actually not related to altcoins) were done with they active participation.

Regarding project:
Goal of the project is correlating with Evolution’s mission. Altcoins market can only grow when we will deliver a light way for end users to use altcoins in daily operations.
Our vision is to have step by step approach based on results of previous stage. We are going to to have 3 phases of the project:
First one is concept validation.
Results - confirmed technical design and working prototype of the solution. SW and technical design is published to community
Cost estimation for that part is about 10kusd, but we have still been validating that cost

Second one is rollout in one specific area
On that phase we are going to do integration with payment gateways (as you mentioned most of the business owners are trying to avoid any risk related to altcoins) and do rollout in one specific region. Here we will add sales and legal personal our team, who will help to create go to market strategy and will work with risks.
That phase will require additional fundings. Cost estimation for that phase will be done during first phase of the project.

Third phase is massive rollout and operations. As a result we will create team consists country leaders who will be responsible for regional operations and continuous development. The target is to achieve self-sufficiency on that phase. Monetising approach is not selling of devices, but to have some fees from transactions.

Of course future development of APIs will have impact on the some part of the software, but to mitigate it we are going to have modular software design which will contain integration layer. In case of api’s changes we will need to update that part.
Also it’s obvious that we also need to provide remote update function, without that function the project will be dead shortly.

Regarding Dash Ventures we are checking such option

Thank you for your explanations, @PerunX . It sounds like you've got an ideal team for the project and a good plan ahead of you. It will also benefit you that you're starting with a relatively low-cost phase and then a pilot phase to begin with as that will give your team an opportunity to demonstrate your effectiveness and professionalism before the MNOs are asked for more significant funding.

In regards to Dash Ventures, I would recommend you consult Dash Core Group's CEO Ryan Taylor's most recent interview on the 3 Amigos Podcast from last week. The first real interview question he is asked is about Dash Ventures, which seems to be closing in on completion as a project. This seems like an ideal project for that segment of the DAO.

I guess my only other question for the moment is if you've given thought as to what your initial pilot region will be, and in general, if it's successful, what areas you plan to expand to as the project grows? Like I said, the machines you're talking about outfitting are in operation all over the world, so you have a lot of options. Would you be focused on UA? If so, we do have some other projects in operation there, and MNOs love to see collaborations, affiliations, and joint efforts with other projects we've already funded, so that's something to consider as well.

Hi @Arthyron. Thanks for suggestions. We've seen that interview.
We are going to do only POC in UA, but further part in other countries. Preliminary it seems that it will be USA, but we've still been validating it via market analyses. BTW, we are trying to get feedback on our idea from vending forums as well.

In any case if you can share some contacts of local UA team, who are actively working on some projects, it would be great. It will allow us to get involved in local dash community activities and maybe get some additional inputs.
