How to restore OLD wallet.dat file?

Greetings,

I have an OLD wallet.dat file on a backup medium that has some Dark... err, DASH on it. How can I restore that wallet with the new wallets that are available? Are they even compatible or do I have to figure out the wallet version I did the backup with?

save that wallet.dat in secure place
download 12.1 wallet, let run and sync
bootstrap to make it faster: https://github.com/UdjinM6/dash-bootstrap

when finished and scynced
quit wallet
replace new (empty) wallet.dat with your DRK wallet.dat
start wallet and done
if not - do reindex

i wish to rstore my dashcore wallet.

i have my public and private key.

i have 2 backups of wallet.dat on an encrypted USB.

how do i restore please.

i have attempted to find instructions. to no avail. there are no directions anywhere that i can find.
