Hi!
I'm a new one on mining and had installed Dash on my computer few months ago. But I had a problem with the computer and I had it to be reinstalled.
Now it's fixed but I wanna know how to recover my previous wallet and the Dash coins I had in it?
Thanks to everyone who will help me

Redownload wallet, and reinsert your old wallet.dat file into dash folder (replacing the wallet.dat that is in there). You may also want to download blockchain bootstrap for quicker re-indexing. Google dash bootstrap Udijn Github to find it. Just put that file into dash folder also.

There are links on this forum explaining the step by step process.

Thanks a lot. But I think there is some problem cause the person who reinstalled the computer had deleted all files. I think I lost all coins in my previous wallet, isn't it?

Yeah, if the hard drive was formatted and you've no backup then they're gone :/ If it's not been used since reinstalation then there's a chance a data recovery service could get them back but it's only a slim chance.

Mac, Windows or Linux? Windows or Mac, sorry, ain't got a clue. Linux, the first step is to do a complete bit-for-bit copy of the entire hard drive using the "dd" command. Plenty of examples of using dd on the net, here's one:

If any of that looks like it's in some sort of heathen foreign language then the best move is to contact a specialist because the next bit will look like Klingon ;)

Ok, the chances of getting anything back from it aren't good at all if windows has been re-installed on it and if it's been in use for a while there's practically zero chance of getting anything back. Unless it's a large amount then it might be better to take out the hard drive and put it somewhere safe for now, the steps I'm talking about will only recover data marked as deleted (ie. not formatted or overwritten), data recovery specialists can use some very sophisticated methods to rebuild overwritten data but that kind of work has no guarantees and it isn't cheap!

Sorry about your Dash.
For future use of the dash, keep in mind to make a backup 1-2 times a week and save at 2 separate locations (usb-stick / drive etc..)
