New to Dash

  • No minimum if you're a regular user.
  • 1000 dashs if you want to setup a masternode. Although there are services proposing masternodes shares if you have less than 1000 dashs: check masternode.me for instance.

Thank you. How are you going to get the average "mom" or "dad" to get using Dash if this requires 1000 dash to get started.
I'm new to this but not stupid.

You actually just need an empty wallet to get started with Dash.

Edit PS: The smallest amount a Dash wallet can handle is 0.00000001 Dash, which is called a Duff. But the usual transaction fee is way greater, at about 0.001 Dash. So a couple of dimes could get you to transfer some real wealth using Dash.

Thats more realistic. Some people get so involved they live in blockchain clouds.
I live on the Sunshine coast in Australia and the nearest cryptocurrency machine is a 2hr drive.
Can i get started by opening a wallet and transferring money on Master Card on the web?
and if i want to cash in where does the money go.

Always encrypt your wallet; choose a good password; make backups; don't lose your password; don't reveal your password to anyone.

Take a look and choose. (I recommend you use Dash Core on PC and Coinomi on Android)

Hello all. I'm like totally new to anything crypto. All I know is there are different types like bitcoin and dash now only because I watched a youtube that a lady named Amanda was on (namely AMTV youtube channel). Can't seem to get the wallet installed because my symantic protection says it has malware on it? Not sure what to do now?

Hi @tomcat, welcome to the community :)

As long as you've downloaded the wallet from the official https://www.dash.org/get-dash/ webpage then you don't need to worry about any false positives thrown up by AV protection. You should be able to tell your Symantec protection to ignore and set it to whitelist the program :)

I can assure you that as long as you've downloaded the software from the source above then there is no threat to the security of your computer.

Any questions at all just post on here or head over to our really active dash community slack channel at https://dash-nation-invite.herokuapp.com/ there are always members there ready to help or answer any questions in real time.

Have fun!

Walter

Hi Walter thanks for responding. I did attempt to download from that exact place you provided the link for. My symantic software doesn't seem to give me the option of overriding the quarantine and immediately locks it out. Usually I get a message asking if I am sure I want to download but this isn't happening? Is there a manual way to set the AV to allow it?

Is this any help?

Sorry if you've already checked that, I don't know windows at all :/ The most likely cause of the issue is the Dash mining part of the client, it's legitimate in this case but there have been viruses that install a miner to steal a victims PCs processing power and use it to mine cryptocurrency. The antivirus supplier should have the correct client whitelisted but they can be very slow to make those changes sometime so it also could be worth reporting it to them. Double check it first though, there's also a hash file on the downloads page (SHA256SUMS.asc) that should match when the downloaded client is tested with a hashing app. Not sure what app to use for that on windows and it would be worth reading up to be safe but HashCheck seems to have a good rep:

Question for new Dash users:
Are you already familiar with bitcoin? Do you own bitcoin?

Answering this question may be useful to help others know where you are on the cryptocurrency learning curve.
