hitting # limit of MN

Imagine the current limit of masternodes is hit (5700?) .
At that point there are 10 in the queue , willing to become a MN .

Then my MN has a hardwareproblem and crashes . How long before i lose my spot as a MN and someone else takes over ?
When my hardware is fixed , can i retake my spot or did i lose it to the people in the queue .

Yeah good one @AjM
After your node is pout from the queue after you bring it back it takes place in the end on the queue to be paid.

Also note there are people leaving and rejoining the queue all the time. With $1m in volume a day, it is reasonable to assume that MN are continually changing hands.

So given that there is a finite number of masternodes, wouldn't the holder of 1000 Dash have an asset which has more value than the stake?

In the future having a 1000 Dash doesnt mean you can run a masternode if all the paying MN positions are taken.
By being a MN operator you get paid, by only holding 1000 Dash you don't.
Say Dash was @ $1000 each and you getting ~ 3 Dash a month, your position as a MN operator now has real value.
Somewhere/how there would be a way to moneterize that position.
