What happened to Masternode Rewards?

Member
Hello guys, I've been running Dash masternodes since 2018...
But have not kept up with developments in this space.

I woke up today, and see that my MN rewards have basically dropped from ~1.42 to ~0.89.

What happened?

What's the new payout schedule?

Any articles or links to study what's going on?

Thank you,
Brown Bear 🐻

Evolution is finally here and as part of it MN rewards have changed.

Also, as an absentee MNO, if you were paid to vote, would you? See my post history and efforts to bring more MNOs like you back into the community. See also Dashcentral.org and on the dashpay reddit, where I'm forro68.
I will soon submit it again, as this is something that must happen to increase MNO participation and to improve the DAO.

My latest attempt:

The few current MNOs who do vote fear this change, but it will improve participation and lead to better results.

Thank you Forro.

Ya sure, I would vote -- in fact I've wanted to vote for a long time, but I just don't know how.

So, should I convert my "regular" masternodes into the "Evo Nodes?"

It would reduce my MN count by a factor of four... what's the advantage?

Also can you show me a link to the new payout schedule?

Thank you,
*Brown 🐻 Bear*

I think your proposal is a good idea. It would certainly incentivize me to participate and keep up with the project.

Conservative estimate (taking into account all Enabled Masternodes & Enabled Evonodes currently on the network) :

More likely estimate (taking into account all Enabled Masternodes & Enabled Evonodes specifically on Platform v1.1 currently on the network) :

So yes, it is pretty lucrative to convert your Masternodes to Evonodes right now.

Just be informed we are currently on Platform v1.1.1 / Evolution 1.1.1 / Dashmate v1.1.1
Withdrawals for Evonodes will be enabled end of next month.

IMO, converting to eMNs is a good decision as qwizzie shows.

Once you've made your decision and your new MN situation is stable, go to dashcentral.org, where you can register your MNs and start voting and participating in discussions. I'll resubmit my proposal soon, and thank you for your support.

Welcome back to the community, and I look forward to your fresh input on all things Dash!

Hello Brown Bear and Black Bear and Teddy Bear! Hello all bears! The Dash network did for a change that reallocates some rewards for evonodes from 1k masternodes. The way it works now is all masternode 1k and 4k are paid ONCE per cycle, but the amount we are paid is less each payment. Below is a chart showing the APY for regular masternodes as of now, it dropped from a peak of about 8.8% to 6.4% where it now stands and will increase as more Evonodes are created due to the incentives to do so.

"masternode 1k and 4k are paid ONCE per cycle"

How long is a cycle?
I'm guessing 3.5 days, is that correct?
Thank you.

Brown Bear, it is only a problem of maths to determine the cycle length. We have 2639 enabled of the 1k variety and 179 enabled of the 4k variety, together it's 2818 nodes. The block time is 2.625 on average, so a cycle is 7397.25 mins. Which is in days 5.13 days.

From my Dash wallet, I see that my payouts have only been ~0.9~ Dash/MN. That's a lot less than the ~1.43 Dash, which I was getting a week ago. You're saying the cycle is 5.17 days, which I don't believe is any different last week. So I conclude that the 1K "classic masternodes" have lost a significant portion of their earning power.

I've been running my 1K Dash masternodes on Allnodes.com. And they don't yet support the 4k Masternodes.

So basically, I have to stop running my 1K Dash MN, break them up and consolidated into 4K nodes...correct?

How do I set up a 4K MN without using Allnodes? Would you please share a link to step-by-step instructions?

Thank you!

@brownbear

Step 1 : DCG official server config guide (https://docs.dash.org/en/stable/docs/user/masternodes/server-config.html#server-config) switch Mainnet masternode tab to Mainnet Evonode tab (more ports to allow) and also make sure you enable swap space and restrict remote access.

Step 2 : DCG official Evonode setup guide https://docs.dash.org/en/stable/docs/user/masternodes/setup-evonode.html
Focus on setup with Dashmate on a new host or on an existing host

You will be using Zero SSL cert setup (by registering a free account with Zero SSL with gets you an API key under its 'developer' section, that Dashmate will need during dashmate setup to generate a 90 days free ssl cert and auto-renew it 2 additional times), so also allow port 80.

Also make sure your Evonode server is up to specs : https://docs.dash.org/en/stable/docs/user/masternodes/understanding.html
(100-150 GB storage should be enough + CPU 4x 2.4 GHz + RAM 8 GB + 2 GB swap + Network bandwidth 1 TB/mth)

And before you ask, there is currently no other way to install and setup an Evonode on Mainnet then through Dashmate (which uses Docker).
After you have setup your Evonode and its running, you can check if everything is okay by issuing :

dashmate status
dashmate status core
dashmate status host
dashmate status masternode
dashmate status platform
dashmate status services

If something is in red, you will have a problem. If no red, then you are good to go.
I would also recommend for you to check your Evonode here : https://mnowatch.org/evonodes/ (check your two ports here, green is good. The http port there link to your ip address, so you can check your secure ssl connection through mnowatch)

Bro  , I appreciate your guidance.
But since tech is not really my strong suit,
it's gonna take a lot of my bandwidth to study and implement all this...
Thank you.

Check with dashmasternode.io, run by @splawik21 , he may be hosting eMNs. Maybe he could have you up and running quickly.

No dude, I don't know why you think I rejected your reality and substituted my own.

Honest questions, I have no clue...

Is this not true? What am I missing here?

Thanks,

190 evonodes are now getting paid once per cycle, fact, before hardfork they were paid 4 times each cycle, that is why cycle length now is shorter.

Quizzie posted a link for you above in post #8:

Actually read it. It explains everything in detail.

the payment system has become a bit more complicated.
if earlier the node received 1.4 and the evonode 1.4x4, now both receive 0.89 but the remainder goes to the pool for payments to evonodes. as a result, at the moment (while evonode is 200), holding evonode has become twice as profitable. then, as the number of evonodes grows, the profit will level out (when the number of evonodes reaches about 500)
