I'm still very happy with Moocowmoo's masternode.me service and I've been renewing it without incident for quite a while. This time I was thinking of storing the 1000 Dash MN collateral on a Trezor rather than in a 'puter wallet. I've found instructions for using a Trezor as a server for a MN...
I think I'm up to speed with BolehVPN again. It has been a bit of an adventure. I started with Walter's tip and eventually wound up with Boleh Support who were very helpful and resolved some of the issues. You can still pay with Dash and get 10% off, although it is not obvious how to do it on...
Thanks, Walter. I'll give it a try. My memory says it used to be easier than that, but I'm not sure if I trust my memory.
Oh - re Kaspersky issues - my Kaspersky app started getting very flaky recently, but a reboot seems to have settled it down again - I now think it had nothing to do with...
Wow - another year gone. I've used BolehVPN for a year now (thanks, tungfa) and I have been fairly happy with it, so I was thinking of renewing. The renewal page comes up cleanly but I don't see any way to pay with Dash any more, let alone a 10% discount for Dash customers.
Also, the order page...
I'm interested also. I pictured MNs on a Trezor running through moocowmoo's masternode.me site. Will that be feasible? No rush for me, renewal time is a way off.
This stuff is really opaque, but it seems to be for real (I think, I hope). I got lost in the various permutations of openledger, bitshares, obits (terrible name), and of course OPENDASH but I keep sniffing at it because of the distributed exchange angle.
My current thinking is that it is...
I may be changing my VPN provider soon. People were suggesting alternatives that accept DASH in this (necro?) thread:
Anyone got up-to-date recommendations?
My details may be of interest here. It was VPN renewal time and I paid using [btc] as I've done for a while. I didn't notice at the time...
I think people may have sensed "centralization" inappropriately from the early descriptions. For example, the phrase "which is recorded in their file" may invoke images of bad bosses making mischief with personnel files. I imagine it will all seem much more benign as definitions are fleshed out...
Ouch - you are probably right.
It's an understanding thing. I'm not sure whether your outgoing emails will say something like "Hey everybody, you have to restart your MNs because there is a new release" or "Attention MN owner X12345blahblah your Service Remaining counter has almost expired...
Thanks, moocowmoo, and good luck with parenting - the first twenty years are the hardest.
Perhaps I misunderstand the email vulnerability issue. My impression is that anyone snooping our exchange of email could learn ownership of two Dash addys (your deposit destination and my MN identity)...
That's the kind of reassurance I was hoping for. Thank you!
I get your point about needing to contact users - I am not completely relaxed about email or social media for that but I have little at stake so it's not a deal-breaker for me. Heh - I don't use social media (Twitter, FB etc.) at all...
Thanks for the quick reply, moocowmoo.
My first thought is that email would be a security/privacy vulnerability for both of us. What am I overlooking?
It's a quirk of our era that we have all these fabulous communication tools available - if we don't mind who else reads our private...
I'm using your (very nice) service and I'm wondering what happens when the 90 day "Service remaining:" clock runs out? Do we pay more to the original addy or is there a notice of some kind about where and how much to pay? Can we pay in advance to prevent outage? I'm sure you address all this...
I usually hang out at the bitcointalk forum, but I also hold DRK and follow it keenly - can't afford a MN yet though. When I signed up here, It seemed like a good idea to use a different forum name because of privacy issues, but now I'm not so sure - it complicates continuity. Since I am a newb...
